Trascrittore Audio – Vocali

Extension privacy policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

This policy covers the browser extension "Audio Transcriber – Voice Messages" ("Trascrittore Audio – Vocali", hereinafter "the Extension"), which transcribes WhatsApp Web voice messages. Data controller: PianoWeb di Cinelli Giulio, VAT no. IT01474240536, Via Aquileia 48, 58100 Grosseto (GR), Italy. Email: info@pianoweb.eu.

What the Extension reads

The Extension only works on the web.whatsapp.com page. It reads the audio of the voice messages you ask it to transcribe (by pressing “Transcribe”, or all recent voice messages if you turn on automatic transcription) and, to show them next to the transcriptions, the name of the chat and of the sender, the duration and the time. It doesn't read text messages, doesn't send messages and doesn't act on your behalf. If WhatsApp doesn't make the audio available in any other way, the Extension silently starts playing the voice message and stops it immediately, so that the page decrypts it: just as when you listen to it yourself, WhatsApp may mark the voice message as played.

Where transcription happens

Data that stays in your browser

Transcriptions (text, chat and sender name, duration, date), settings, the API key of the service you chose (if any) and the license data are stored only in the browser where you use the Extension. The data controller has no access to them. You can export or delete transcriptions from the Extension's settings; when you uninstall it, the browser deletes all of its data, engine included.

License

When you activate the license, and then periodically to verify it, the Extension contacts the data controller's license service (licenze.pianoweb.eu), sending the license key, a code that identifies this browser (derived irreversibly from a random number created by the Extension) and a descriptive name such as "Voice messages extension – Chrome on Windows". The processing of this data is described in the Trascrittore Audio privacy policy, under "Data processed by the controller". In the trial version, the Extension does not contact the license service. If you uninstall the Extension while the license is active, the browser opens a page of the license service that frees the slot used by this browser. The browser's random code is also saved in the Chrome storage linked to your Google account (if sync is on), so reinstalling the Extension in the same browser doesn't use up another slot.

What it doesn't do

The Extension contains no tracking, usage statistics or advertising, doesn't sell or share data and doesn't use it for any purpose other than transcribing voice messages. The technical report you can copy from the settings contains only the page structure and errors, never the audio or text of messages, and you send it to support yourself if you choose to.

Your rights

You can ask the data controller for access to the license data, rectification, erasure and the other rights under Articles 15–22 of the GDPR by writing to info@pianoweb.eu, and you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, www.garanteprivacy.it) or with the supervisory authority of your country.

Use of data

The use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

This policy is available in several languages; in case of discrepancies, the Italian text prevails.
